Clear Backpack Procedures

Clear means the backpack is not mesh and is not a tinted clear backpack (purple-clear, tinted black, etc.). Only clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC are allowed.

Yes. Each student will be given one backpack purchased by Raytown Quality Schools on either Thursday, April 3 or Friday, April 4 during 7th period. This is the only backpack provided so if this one is lost or breaks, the family is responsible for any future backpacks needed.

If you are a part-time student or might attend another school in the afternoon (Herndon Career Center or Summit Technology Academy, etc.), and thus are not present at RHS during 7th period backpack distribution, please obtain your backpack from the front, main office prior to exiting the building on Thursday, April 3 or Friday, April 4.

No. Students are not allowed to carry large bags with two handles or bring large purses to school.

Maybe. It must be a clear plastic, vinyl, or PVC purse, similar to what is allowed at our RQS extra-curricular activities. Small clutch bags can be no larger than 8" x 8" with or without a handle or strap.

Yes, lunch boxes are still allowed provided they are small enough to fit inside the clear backpack.

All in-season athletes will be provided with a school-approved carrying case for athletic equipment. Athletes have also been checked out a locker in one of the locker rooms. All athletic equipment bags should be taken to the locker room upon arrival to school and kept in this space the entire day. 

Exceptions to the locker room are golf bags should be taken to Mrs. Hurst’s classroom and tennis bags should be taken to Mrs. Green’s classroom.

Boys volleyball and girls flag football will be allowed to carry an athletic bag to school which will be marked with a tag. This will occur until their team bags arrive to RHS. These bags will be stored in a locker room.

Band instruments have school-approved cases. Upon arrival at school, these instruments and cases should be taken and stored in the lockers located inside or near the band room the entire day.

No decorations are allowed on your backpack, including but not limited to writings, drawings, stickers, badges, etc.
